Phaphra Sheikh

Phaphra Sheikh is a very small clan of Punjabi Shaikh which is basically from Pindi Bhattian. They are now settled in big cities of Pakistan like Karachi, Faisalabad, Lahore and Gujranwala.

History

They said that they are descendents of Phaphra, which came here with the great Mughal emperor Babur. Early on, they settled near the Salt Range, which laterally called Phaphra. They are called the owner of that state. Then in the eighteenth century they came to Pindi Bhattian, because of the British army killing the Muslim Rulers at that time The Indian War of Independence –1857. Some families also went to Chiniot from Pindi Bhattian, that's why they are also known as Chinioty Sheikhs (known as Khoja's), now they are settle in big cities of Pakistan.

A large number of peoples which are living now in the village of Phaphra near Pind Dadan Khan are called Mughal Phaphras due to their coming here with the Mughals or descendants of Mughals.

Traditions

They were strong warriors in time periods of war but now in modern times they are known to be very enterprising and traditionally a mercantile community. Their traditions are very much similar to the Chinioty Sheikhs (known as Khoja's), these are due to their relations and living together with them from a long time. That's why they are also known as Chinioty Sheikhs. They also serve the country with their remarkable services.
