Peyad is a suburb of Thiruvananthapuram, the capital of Kerala. It is the headquarters of Vilappil Grama Panchayat. But the place Peyad covers the areas of Vilappil, Vilavoorkal and Malayinkeezhu Grama Panchayats.

Location

Peyad is located very close to Trivandrum city and has better road connectivity compared to other villages in the district. Peyad can be accessed from 4 different routes from Trivandrum City. They are Karamana route, Jagathy route, Pangode Route (Through Military area) and Sasthamangalam route. It lies on Thiruvananthapuram - Kattakada route via Thirumala. Peyad is an important junction, from where two roads lead to two different directions, the east road for Kattakada & Malayinkeezhu and north for Vilappilshala, Puliyarakonam, Vellanadu etc. .

Peyad is about 4 km from Thirumala and 10 km from Thiruvananthapuram city. Regular bus services are available from Thiruvananthapuram Central Bus Station at Thampanoor and City Bus Station at East Fort.

Thiruvananthapuram Central Railway Station is the nearest rail head and the nearest airport is Thiruvananthapuram International Airport.

Other Features

Peyad is main junction in the Trivandrum-Kattakkada route. Peyad is situated on banks of the Karamanayar (river). Peyad has a better public transportation facility with Trivandrum City. Regular bus services are available to Peyad (30 minutes journey) from Trivandrum Central Bus station at Thampanoor and from City Bus Station (Private Buses and KSRTC Buses) at East Fort. A Main Post Office is working at Peyad with PIN 695573 with sub post offices at Moongode, Perukavu, Puliyarakonam & Vilappilsalai. Most of the agricultural land in Peyad have been converted to residential areas. Various villa projects and residential flats are also under construction here.
