Seen from the air on a British Antarctic Survey (BAS) radio echo sounding flight around Alexander Island, February 11, 1967, and later accurately positioned from U.S. Landsat imagery. Named by United Kingdom Antarctic Place-Names Committee (UK-APC) in 1980 after David L.
