Jakarta FC is in the rebel league (back then) of Liga Primer Indonesia (LPI) which wasn't recognized by PSSI, AFC, and FIFA, in 2011. After the league disbanded and dualism ensues in Indonesia football, the club management decided that they want to rename themselves into Persija Jakarta and thus becoming the clone of an already established Persija Jakarta that competed in the Indonesian Super League. In 25th of March 2013, the club disbanded because it is no longer recognized by the PSSI.
