Percival is a Polish folk music band from Lubin, Poland formed by musicians of folk-metal Percival Schuttenbach due to their fascination with history and historical reenactment. The name „Percival” however refers not to any historical figure but to gnome Percival Schuttenbach from the third volume of Andrzej Sapkowski's „The Witcher” novel.

Music

The band plays traditional songs of Europe, mostly Slavic, and its own compositions referring to Early Medieval times – Vikings era – pagan Europe. Musicians play the traditional instruments : long-necked lute (saz or Bağlama), byzantine lyra (rebec), drums, flutes. Percival presents its music during historical events in Poland (e.g. the biggest Viking and Slavs festival in Poland on Wolin island), as well as abroad: in Germany, France, Czech Republik, Lithuania, Slovakia, Belgium, Isle of Man and Scandinavian countries. In 2010 musicians began cooperation with music producer Donatan. Project "Equinox" (Polish: Równonoc) combines traditional Slavic sounds with hip-hop music. CD album, released in 2012, became a diamond record in Poland. At the end of 2013, Percival established cooperation with CDP.pl. One of Percival's song (inspired by the game „The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt”) was added to an e-book „Sezon Burz” by Andrzej Sapkowski.
