Peprilus is a genus of fish of the family Stromateidae known as harvestfishes or palometas[1] and are related to butterfish. The eight described species in this genus[2][3] are found throughout the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. Species in this genus generally have a maximum length of 25–30 cm.[4]
