Penuballi (Telugu: పెనుబల్లి) is a Mandal in the Khammam district of Andhra Pradesh, India. It is the headquarters of Penuballi Mandal.

History

Near this village are two historical places, located nearly 8 to 10 km distance. One is Neeladri temple near Bhavannapalem village in deep forest, a famous Siva temple, which was built by the Kakatiya Kings. Lakhs of people visits this temple on the day Mahasivarathri and conduct rituals and traditional things such as dramas and sevas, etc., the entire night. Water falls round the year from the hill beside the temple. It is a famous picnic spot for people on "karteeka masam". Another one is "Pallela bavi gattu" which was built by Kakatiyas in the deep forest. A long wall surrounds the hill which was built with big rocks at the height of almost 3000 feet. This is the birthplace of Jalagam VengalaRao, former chief minister of AP.

Geography

Penuballi is near to Sathupalli and 40 km (25 mi) from Kothagudem. It is 90 km from Bhadrachalam and the same distance from Vijayawada, and 60 km from Khammam district headquarters.

Transport

Penuballi is located at the junction of two highways, HYD to Rajahmundry and Vijayawada to Bhadrachalam.

Economics

The village depends on agriculture.

Government

The village is mandala headquarters. Two highways passes through this village: one is State highway from Rajahmundry to Hyderabad and second one is National Highway 221 from Vijayawada to Bhadrachalam.
