Peace River—Westlock

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Peace River—Westlock is a future federal electoral district in Alberta. It will encompass a portion of Alberta now included in the electoral districts of Peace River, Fort McMurray-Athabasca, Yellowhead_(electoral district), and Westlock—St. Paul.[1]

Peace River—Westlock was created by the 2012 federal electoral boundaries redistribution and has been legally defined in the 2013 representation order.[2] It will come into effect upon the call of the 42nd Canadian federal election, scheduled for October 2015, although in the unlikely event an election is called prior to April 2014, the current electoral boundaries would remain in effect.[3]

As it is a newly-created district, there will be no incumbent candidate, and all parties will have to hold nomination contests to select their candidates for MP.
