Pavle VujeviÄ
Pavle VujeviÄ (1881ā1966) was a Serbian geographer and meteorologist, professor of climatology, meteorology, and mathematical geography at the University of Belgrade. He was a founder of the science of micro-climatology, and one of the first in the science of potamology, the study of rivers. He was born at Ruma, in Srem, on the 10th of August 1881. He died at Belgrade in November 1966.
Serbia undertook some significant developments in meteorology with academics Pavle VujeviÄ, Director of Belgrade Observatory, and Milutin MilankoviÄ, one of the most renowned scientists of his time, who began his work in the field of climatology.
VujeviÄ is famous for his book Basis of Mathematical and Physical Geography. He wrote about the island of Hvar, and proved that Hvar a is better place for healing than other resorts along the Mediterranean coastline. Also, an outstanding potamological study of the Tisa river was made by VujoviÄ in 1906.
Pavle VujeviÄ was a good friend of Milutin MilankoviÄ, noted for his research into climate cycles. When MilankoviÄ wanted to start his research in meteorology, he asked VujeviÄ for mathematical estimates.
