At the 1996 Summer Olympics she won the silver medal in the 5000 m, behind Wang Junxia of China and in front of Roberta Brunet of Italy. The result made Konga first Kenyan woman to win an Olympic medal.[1]
She is married to Paul Bitok, who won men's 5000 metres at the 1996 Olympics.[1]
