Paul Vere Johnson (born June 24, 1954) has been a general authority of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) since 2005, and the church's sixteenth Commissioner of Church Education since August 2008.
Johnson became a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy on April 2, 2005 after serving as an area seventy in the Fifth Quorum of the Seventy since June 2003. On June 8, 2008, the church's First Presidency announced his appointment as commissioner, effective August 1, 2008.[1]
Johnson was born in Gainesville, Florida, and was raised in Logan, Utah.[2] As a young man, he was an LDS Church missionary in Norway,[3] after which he earned degrees from Brigham Young University and Utah State University.[2]
He has served in the LDS Church as a ward Young Men president, bishop, and counselor in a stake presidency. He and his wife, Jill, married in 1976 and are the parents of nine children.
