From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Paul Shapiro is a jazz, world, and klezmer saxophonist from New York.
In the mid 1960s Peter Blankenfeld formed a musical collaboration with Doug Slade, Joe Clark, Stephen Jo Bladd (percussion), and Paul Shapiro (wind), called the Hallucinations, who performed with the Velvet Underground, Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, Van Morrison, John Lee Hooker, and Sun Ra.[1]
From 1983 to 2007 Shapiro recorded eight albums, toured, and frequently played tenor saxophone in New York City with the Microscopic Septet.[2]
