Paul Raymond Paton (born 18 April 1987 in Paisley) is a professional footballer currently playing for Dundee United in the Scottish Premiership. He has previously played for Queen's Park and Partick Thistle.
Career
The right back, despite attracting interest from higher level clubs decided to stay at Hampden with Queen's Park during the season 2007–08. His displays at the back were key in Queen's winning promotion to Division Two and he scored the goal which gave Queen's the lead in the Second Leg of the playoff final at New Bayview, the goal which effectively ended the Fifers' hopes of promotion.
Paton signed for Partick Thistle in May 2008 on a three year contract.[1] He played a significant role in Partick Thistle's Championship winning season 2012-13 during which he was the club captain. On the 16th of April 2013 it was announced that he would follow former Thistle manager Jackie Macnamara, along with Thistle teammate Chris Erskine, to join Dundee United for the start of the 2013-2014 season.[2] Paul scored his first goal for the club in a 4-0 win against Motherwell.
