Paul Kodish

Paul Kodish is a professional drummer raised in Willesden, London. Kodish has performed with several other artists including hip hop act Whodini in 1986, and drum and bass group Bad Company. He was also one of two drummers for electronica band Apollo 440 between 1997 and 2005 and the drummer in Australian-British drum and bass band Pendulum between 2006 and 2009. Kodish spent a short time during 2010 drumming with Liverpool band Killaflaw, including performing at several concerts and also providing recorded drums for their debut album 'Sleaze and Grit'. He currently supports DJ Fresh's crew with his tour as FRESH/Live.

Biography

Early career: 1986–1996

Kodish grew up in Willesden, London. He learnt to play the drums at an early age, and was heavily influenced by several notable drummers including Billy Cobham, Steve Gadd and Stewart Copeland.^[1] His earliest professional gig was with Brooklyn hip hop act Whodini, as the drummer on their 1986 studio album Back in Black.^[2] Over the next ten years he performed with several different artists including Eye to Eye, T-Funk Phunk lawds and Jean Michel Jarre,IBEX . Pendulum .DJ fresh .Apollo 440 .Maximum Roach. Moving fusion .Adam f ... and soon became familiar with the London drum and bass scene.^[1]

Apollo 440: 1996–2005

In 1986 kodish's first big break came when he linked up with linked he legendary rap artists Whodini(The freaks come out at night ) and went on to work and record with them for 3 years . After this he hooked up with Reinforced crew jungle dnb funk legends, out of this came the very unique Band Ibex fronted by the uber talented Mc MG .Nick Philpin and Kenny Couger(KevinGoodman) who later joined Apollo440 and MaximumRoach In 1996 Kodish formed the jungle-surf fusion band Maximum Roach with Noko of Apollo 440 and Ian "Mary Mary" Hoxley, former lead singer of Gaye Bykers on Acid Harry K. He then joined Apollo 440 with Mary Mary and Harry K in 1997, as their second drummer. Retrieved on 15 February 2009.</ref> During his time with them he appeared on two albums, Gettin' High on Your Own Supply and Dude Descending a Staircase.^[3][4] Two years later after many lineup changes Noko left Maximum Roach and was replaced by Perry ap Gwynedd, who eventually joined Pendulum with Kodish. Noko then reunited with Maximum Roach in 2005 to record new material,which unfortunately never got released. but in a Kodish interview Kodish stated Maximum roach and Apollo 440 as being the best bands he'd ever played in and would die happy with those memories.kodish is currently playing with DJ fresh who was introduced to Kodish by Howard grey from Apollo who met him in Japan while with Bad company the dnb crew ... Later event iconic events lead Dj fresh introducing Kodish To Rob swire at an Andy c gig at the End club in london where Kodish and swire both decided it was time to put the Pendulum live band together.

Pendulum: 2005–2009

Prior to leaving Apollo 440, Kodish had joined the drum and bass group Bad Company as part of their live act.^[5] Although he did not remain with them for long, he did become friends with Dan Stein, better known as Fresh, who went on to produce several songs with Pendulum.^[6] In 2005 Kodish met the lead singer and producer of Pendulum, Rob Swire, to whom he suggested trying to play tracks live from the band's debut album, Hold Your Colour.^[7] Soon after he joined the band as their first live drummer, and went on to perform on the band's second studio album, In Silico.^[8] Kodish toured extensively with Pendulum between 2006 and 2010^[9] In 2010 it was announced that Kodish was no longer a member of the band. After a short stint with Liverpool Band Killaflaw, he reunited with Dj fresh and his Fresh/live Project. Aside from rejoining the Fresh/live Project, Kodish's reason for leaving Pendulum is still relatively unknown.

Musical equipment
