Paul E. Jacobs is the current Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors of Qualcomm.

Education

Paul E. Jacobs received a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in 1984, an M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering in 1986 and a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in 1989 from the University of California, Berkeley.

Career

Paul E. Jacobs has been Chief Executive Officer of the company since July 2005, having previous to that date served as the Group President of Qualcomm Wireless and Internet Group from July 2001. Jacobs started with the company as an engineer in the wireless technology development group in 1990.

On 13 December 2013, Qualcomm announced that Jacobs will step down and be replaced by president and COO Steve Mollenkopf as of 4 March 2014.[1]

Compensation

While CEO of Qualcomm in 2008, Paul E. Jacobs earned a total compensation of $18,567,015, which included a base salary of $1,112,218, a cash bonus of $2,909,000, and options granted of $14,021,335.[2]
