Paul Caica

Paul Caica BA JP MP, (born 1957), Australian politician, is a member of the South Australian House of Assembly. He represents the electoral district of Colton and is a member of the Australian Labor Party. A member of the Rann government cabinet since 2006,[1] he is the current Minister for Environment and Conservation, the River Murray and Water.[2] As of the 2010 state election, Caica holds Colton with a margin of 4.0 percent.

Caica was elected as the Member for Colton on 9 February 2002. He is from the Labor Left faction.[3] Caica attended Henley Primary and High Schools before graduating from Adelaide University with a Bachelor of Arts in 1985.

Prior to his election Caica was a firefighter for almost 20 years then held the full-time position of Secretary of the South Australian United Firefighters Union between 1991 and 1997 and the National Secretary of the United Firefighters Union from 1998-2002 where he represented firefighters on a national basis.

At the 2007 World Police and Fire Games in Adelaide, Caica won two gold medals for Angling.

Caica is married with two sons.
