Pathri is a city and a municipal council in Parbhani district in the Indian state of Maharashtra.

Geography

Pathri is located at 19°15′N 76°27′E / 19.25°N 76.45°E / 19.25; 76.45.[1] It has an average elevation of 423 metres (1387 feet).

Demographics

As of 2001 India census,[2] Pathri had a population of 31,997. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Pathri has an average literacy rate of 61%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 69%, and female literacy is 53%. In Pathri, 16% of the population is under 6 years of age.

History

Founder of Nijam sultanate at Ahamadnagar was a Brahmin, son of Bhirubhat from pathari. Great monk Shri. Sai Baba of Shirdi[3] was born in pathri. According to historians the old house where Sai Baba Mandir is build is birthplace of this monk.
