Patchway railway station is a minor railway station located at street level of Station Road in Little Stoke village near the town of Patchway, South Gloucestershire, England. It is a stop on the South Wales Main Line branch of the Great Western Main Line, served by local trains operated by First Great Western.

First Great Western high speed services use this station to stop when the line to Bristol Parkway is closed for engineering work.

History

The station was opened by the Bristol and South Wales Union Railway on 8 September 1863. On 10 August 1883 it was moved 440 yards (400 m) southwards and renamed as "Patchway and Stoke Gifford" but reverted to its original name of "Patchway" on 27 October 1908.

Services

The station is currently (May 2010) served hourly in each direction on weekdays. Westbound trains run to Newport & Cardiff Central and southbound to Bristol Temple Meads, Weston-super-Mare and Taunton. There are limited services to Portsmouth Harbour that also call here during early morning and late evening. CrossCountry trains also operate one service per day in each direction to/from Cardiff, then onwards to Temple Meads, Birmingham New Street and Manchester Piccadilly.

There is a limited Sunday service (approximately every three hours each way) provided by the Cardiff Central to Portsmouth Harbour trains.
