Plot

Boomhauer's brother Patch (Brad Pitt) comes into town driving a Saab 900NG cabriolet to marry Boomhauer's ex-girlfriend, Katherine (Laura Dern). Patch is busy making arrangements for the wedding and Boomhauer is sulking, as he still loves Katherine. At a party at Hank's house, Patch asks Boomhauer to be his best man. Boomhauer hesitates, but agrees. While the brothers are relaxing at Boomhauer's house in his hot tub, Luanne comes over to return Boomhauer's Walkman. Patch begins to harass Luanne, prompting her to leave. Boomhauer starts to yell at Patch and a fight begins. Boomhauer quits as best man. Patch then asks Hank to be the best man, who agrees, and starts to make plans for the bachelor party, while Peggy is in charge of setting up a bachelorette party for the bride.

Hank prepares a crazy bachelor party (at least by his standards) involving beer, music (including "The Joker" by Steve Miller Band), and playing cards, and a traditional prank on the groom with a ball & chain. He even gets clearance from the fire department to go above the designated noise level (70dB) for one night of fun. Peggy gathers the ladies for a night of hot body video watching.

Patch secretly orders strippers as the 'special' entertainment, which Hank thinks is going to be a karaoke party. As the guys are getting into their pranks, Patch answers the door and ushers in the strippers. Hank is livid, as are the wives, who arrive at the same time. Patch makes everyone think that Boomhauer ordered the strippers to make Patch look bad, in an effort to win Katherine back. Hank turns his back on their friendship, letting Boomhauer know that he expects this sort of behavior from Bill or Dale but not from him.

Hank gives Boomhauer the cold shoulder for a few days but eventually realizes that he never actually asked Boomhauer if he was responsible. Hank confides in Dale, and they agree that he should go ask Boomhauer straight if he did it. Boomhauer says 'no'. Hank accepts his answer, and they make up. Hank hosts the wedding rehearsal dinner, where Katherine reveals that she can't marry Patch knowing that Boomhauer still loves her so much that he is willing to call in strippers to ruin her relationship with his brother. Patch tries to usurp this show of "romance" by confessing that it was, in fact, he who called the strippers. That changes Katherine's mind for good and she walks out on him. The wedding is off, and the next day, Katherine leaves Arlen after saying goodbye to Boomhauer. After the farewells are exchanged, Boomhauer joins his friends in the alley for a beer. He tells Hank that though he may not be getting married anytime soon, if the day does come, he might look up Hank to be his best man, to which Hank accepts. With that, all is good in the neighborhood once more.
