Pasco–Hernando State College (PHSC) is a state college in Pasco County and Hernando County, Florida. With five campuses in Brooksville, Dade City, New Port Richey, Spring Hill, and Wesley Chapel PHSC serves Pasco and Hernando counties in the central west coast of Florida. It is the youngest 4-year State college in Florida.[1] The name of the school changed from Pasco-Hernando Community College (PHCC) on January 21, 2014.[2][3]

PHCC was established in 1967 by the Florida Legislature and is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award the associate's degree.[1] In addition, the college offers many other certification programs in the fields of computer science, health occupations, and law enforcement. One of the newest programs is the Educator Preparation Institute, an alternative teacher certification program.

PHSC also offers GED preparation classes to prepare students to test for the GED diploma, and dual-enrollment classes for high school students. Many students select the four-year state college as an alternative to higher priced four-year institutions with the prospect of transferring.

A fifth campus opened in 2014 in Wesley Chapel to serve central Pasco County.[4] The new campus is named the Porter Campus at Wiregrass Ranch after the Porter family which donated the land to the college.[4] In March 2013 PHCC President Katherine Johnson announced plans to change the college's name to correlate with the beginning of offering baccalaureate programs in 2014.[5] The school sought public feedback via its website regarding four proposed new names: College of Pasco-Hernando, Pasco-Hernando College, Pasco-Hernando State College, or State College of Pasco-Hernando.[5]
