The 12925/12926 Paschim Express is a super fast express train belonging to Indian Railways that runs between Bandra Terminus and Amritsar in Punjab. It has slip coaches of 22925/26 which go towards Kalka.

It is a daily service. It operates as train number 12925 from Bandra Terminus to Amritsar and as train number 12926 in the reverse direction.

Coaches

The 12925/26 Paschim Express has 1 AC 1st Class, 3 AC 2 tier, 5 AC 3 tier, 8 Sleeper Class, 3 General unreserved coaches & 4 General cum baggage coaches. For the purpose of this article, the slip coaches of 22925/26 Paschim Express towards Kalka are included.

Service

The Paschim Express runs between Mumbai & Amritsar, Kalka. The train bifurcates at Ambala Cant Junction. It is a daily service covering the distance of 1821 km in 31 hours 45 mins as 12925 Paschim Express averaging 57.35 km/hr & 30 hours 35 mins as 12926 Paschim Express averaging 59.54 km/hr. The average speed of the total run (Bandra Terminus – Amritsar & back) is 58.43 km/hr.

Traction

Earlier Dual traction WCAM 1 or WCAM 2/2P locos would haul the train between Bandra Terminus & Vadodara after which a Ghaziabad based WAP 1 would take over for the remainder on the journey.

Since Western Railways completed DC Electric Conversion to AC on 5 February 2012, it is now regularly hauled by a Ghaziabad based WAP 7 locomotive for its entire journey.

Train History

  • The Paschim Express is also informally known as Paschim Super Deluxe Express.
  • It was one of the first trains to be transferred to Bandra Terminus from Mumbai Central.
  • It does not stop at Hazrat Nizamuddin when it operates as 12926 Paschim Express.

Time Table

12925 Paschim Express leaves Bandra Terminus every day at 11:35 hrs IST and reaches the Amritsar at 19:20 hrs IST the next day. On return, the 12926 Paschim Express leaves Amritsar every day at 08:10 hrs IST and reaches Bandra Terminus at 14:45 hrs IST the next day.
