Party Never Ends is the third studio album by Romanian singer Inna released on March 25, 2013. The album was again produced by Play & Win. Musically, the album is similar to her previous albums, but feature a more four-on-the-floor style of music, along with dance-pop and house music. Despite it receiving favorable reviews from music critics, the album did not perform as well on the music charts, especially due to it only being released in select countries. The album spawned seven singles, the most successful being "Tu şi Eu", which peaked at number five on the Romanian Top 100.
Release and promotion
The singer's first self-composition was titled "Caliente" (Spanish for Hot) which was produced along with Play & Win.[1] In the first half of 2012 she released lyric videos on her YouTube account for some more new songs titled "OK", "Alright", "Tu şi Eu", "Crazy Sexy Wild" and "INNdiA".[2] They serve as promotional songs for her next studio album. After releasing a music video for "Caliente", the song debuted on the Romanian Top 100 at number ninety-three, becoming Inna's twelfth entry on the chart since she started her career in 2008. It performed poorly and only peaked at number eighty-four. However, the Romanian language song "Tu şi Eu", which was released shortly after "Caliente", quickly became a radio success in her native country, debuting on the Romanian Top 100 without a music video release and reaching number eighteen. After the release of the well received music video, "Tu şi Eu" rose up and peaked at number five. Her Play & Win collaboration "INNdiA" became her thirteenth chart entry on the Romanian Top 100, debuting at number ninety-three on August 5, 2012. It fell off the chart on the following week, but re-entered on August 26, 2012 at number eighty-four. The song reached number ten on the chart, becoming her ninth top ten single in her native country. Later that month, another music video was released for a song titled "J'Adore" (which translates to "I Adore", from French). In the video, Inna is working out and stretching, wearing a mutilated bodysuit.
On February 11, 2013, Inna's Facebook page reached eight million followers, and in commemoration of the milestone, she released the album's official track listing. Up to the release of the album, Inna uploaded promotional videos for each song on the album to her YouTube channel. Party Never Ends was digitally released in the UK on July 28, 2013.[3] Inna will promote her album with the "Party Never Ends Tour".
Composition
The album, genre-wise, is oriented towards electronic dance music, also encompassing dance-pop and synthpop tunes. Lyrically, the songs speak about relationships, partying, and love.
Singles
"Caliente" was written by Inna and produced by her producers and managers Play & Win (Sebastian Barac, Marcel Botezan, Radu Bolfea). Inna uploaded a shorter version of the song on her YouTube channel on February 16, 2012. Then its official radio edit was released on May 4, 2012 on iTunes. On May 14, 2012 an official music video was released on Inna's YouTube Account.[4]
"Crazy Sexy Wild" and "Tu şi Eu" are the English and the Romanian versions of a song, released as the second single from "Party Never Ends". They were produced by Play & Win, and co-written by GoodWill & MGI and Kimberly Cole. First published in May on YouTube and officially released on iTunes in June 2012, "Tu şi Eu" was sung in Romanian and English language. Inna released a complete English version of the song, entitled "Crazy Sexy Wild" on June 17, 2012. For the international promotion a music video for "Crazy Sexy Wild" was released on August 2, 2012.[5] The music video for "Tu şi Eu" was released on August 8, 2012.[6] "Tu şi Eu" became an overwhelming radio hit in Romania, distinctly outperforming its predecessor "Caliente" on the Romanian Top 100. Its top ten entry made Inna the most successful Romanian female artist in Romanian Top 100 chart history.
"Inndia" (stylized as "INNdiA") became the third single release from the album and features vocals by Play & Win. Written and produced by Play & Win, it was sent to Romanian mainstream radio stations on June 28, 2012. Its accompanying music video premiered on YouTube on September 22, 2012.[5] The single was officially released on iTunes on October 11, 2012.[7]
"More Than Friends" was the first international single that was released from the album, and it was released in January 18, 2013, with its accompanying music video. The single is co-written and co-produced by Danish writer and producer, Thomas Troelsen and Dutch producer Tearce "Kizzo" Keaz. Inna uploaded a preview of the music video on her YouTube account on January 15, 2013. On January 18, 2013, Inna released two versions of her single, "More Than Friends", onto her YouTube channel. The first version featured Puerto Rican recording artist Daddy Yankee singing and rapping during certain parts of the song. This was an audio-only submission. The second version was the actual video of her single. Daddy Yankee wasn't present in the first official video at all, and neither were his vocals. The setting for Inna's music video in "More Than Friends" was a beach resort. On February 4, Inna released another video of "More Than Friends", but this time with Daddy Yankee present.
"Be My Lover" was the second international single from the album. The music video for the song was released on July 11, 2013.
"In Your Eyes" is set to be released as the third international single from Party Never Ends. A video teaser for the video was released on October 2, 2013. The official music video premiered on her 27th birthday October 16, 2013 with a surprise feature by Yandel.
Reception
Critical reception
Though the album did not receive reviews from much or many mainstream critics, the album did receive positive feedback. Get With The Leaks reviewed the album positively, saying "Inna is back with another album and its even better than "Club Rocker" ! The album is full of dance tracks you could blast at the club or at your own event ! [...]"[8]
Commercial reception
In France, Spain and Portugal, the promotion for the album and the single "More Than Friends" started on April 5, 2013 by Universal Music Europe. The album had success in Japan and Asian territories, peaking at number three on the Japanese Albums Chart.[9][10] The album did not perform as well on many charts, despite it being released in selected countries.
