Parod
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Parod (Hebrew: פָּרוֹד) is a kibbutz in the Upper Galilee near Safed in northern Israel. It belongs to the Merom HaGalil Regional Council
The community was founded in 1949 by immigrants to Israel from Hungary, on land belonging to the ethnically cleansed Palestinian village of Farradiyya.[1]
The name "Parod" is based on the name of the ancient Jewish community Paradia. The name, which means "separated," might also hint at the community's location on the border between the Upper and Lower Galilee. The kibbutz was founded under the name "Gardush" to honor a member of the founding nucleus who was killed in the Holocaust.
