Newark Elementary School

Parkview School District currently operates 2 grade schools. They are Parkview Elementary School and Parkview Primary School. Parkview Elementary School is the biggest, and houses the district's 3-6th graders. Parkview Primary School educates the district's Pre-K through 2nd graders. All PPS kids go to PES for 3rd through 6th grades. All kids in the two schools go to Parkview Jr./Sr. High School for middle school and high school.

Consolidation

Parkview used to operate 3 elementary schools. They were Orfordville, Newark, and Footville Elementary Schools. The district has always been in dispute as to which school(s) would close when the time came to eliminate a school. In 2011, the school board made the decision that one or more schools should close. They chose Newark and Footville to shut down, and to send all students to Orfordville. They had two options: Build modular classrooms out of the fund reserves, or ask the voters for 5 million to do a permanent addition to OES. They put the option on the ballot in April 2012. The voters asked for the first option, but also voted in three new board members (all from Footville). The new members overturned the previous vote to keep their school open. They have made promises to shut down Footville when enrollment drops to the point of not needing Footville. The board later took action to change the name of Orfordville Elementary School to Parkview Elementary School. Also, Footville Elementary School became Parkview Primary School.
