Park Sojin (born May 21, 1986; Hangul: 박소진), better known by her stage name Sojin (Hangul: 소진), is a South Korean idol singer. She is best known as the leader and lead vocalist of the girl group, Girl's Day under Dream Tea Entertainment.

Biography

Sojin was born on May 21, 1986, in Seoul, South Korea. She attended Ahyun Elementary School, Seobu Girls' Middle School and Kyungduk Girls' High School.[1] She majored in Mechanical Engineering at Yeongnam University.[2] Sojin is skilled at playing the piano and writing calligraphy. She became a Girl's Day member from coincidentally being introduced to a sound engineer.

Career

Girl's Day

On July 27, 2010, Sojin made her debut as a member of Girl's Day on KBS Music Bank with their debut single, Tilt My Head.[3] Girl's Day has released 2 full album and 3 EPs in total.

In 2013, Sojin was given the opportunity of singing two songs for two different dramas. She sang "Our Love Like this" for the drama Flame of Desire and "I Want to Turn Back Time' for Passionate Love.

In April 2013, Sojin was able to perform on Music Bank and Inkigayo with South Korean idol group Electroboyz and their song "Ma Boy 3" replacing After School's Nana.[4]

Influences

Sojin says her biggest influence in life is Um Jung Hwa. She describes her as a long time leader of her generation and shows abundant expressiveness and depth.[5]

Health

On July 11, 2011, she suffered respiratory problems and was rushed to a hospital. A Dream Tea representative confirmed that this was due to a shortness of breath. Then, before her comeback promotions, she lost weight rapidly lose  decreasing from 47 kg (104 lb) to 43 kg (95 lb), over a short period of time. During her promotions, she showed a lack of balance in her music show performances. Further tests determined that she was in no immediate danger, instead that she was suffering from stress regarding the busy schedule pending her comeback.[6]
