Park Hyo-shin (Hangul: 박효신, Hanja: 朴孝信) was born on 1 December 1981. He is a South Korean singer. Park has a deep, husky voice and has been hailed by many as one of Korea's greatest singers.[citation needed]

Biography

Park was educated at Kyung-hee University and majored in post-modern music.

In November 1999, he debuted with "Things I Cannot Do For You", followed up by "Fool". The songs became hits. Later, Park actively performed in various events like participating in the musical Rock Hamlet, a tribute album for Deulgukhwa, That Only Is My World and a duet with Lee Sora on her 4th album. In January 2001, Park released his second album Second Story, in which top songwriters like Yoon Sang, Kim Jong-Rule and Yoo Hee-Leihu participated. Yet it was not until his 3rd album Time Honored Voice that Park Hyoshin scored his first No. 1 song with "A Good Person". He scored another No. 1 hit with the title song "Standing In That Place" from his 4th album Soul Tree.

Perhaps the most well-known song of Park is the theme song "Snow Flower" from the hit KBS drama I'm Sorry, I Love You in early 2005. In mid-2005, at the peak of remaking old songs, Park also released a remake album Neo-Classicism. The song "Scattered Days" made it to the top 5 in music charts.

Park Hyo-shin was in hiatus in 2006 to prepare for his 5th album. It had been 3 years since he had released a full studio album. His 5th album was released in early 2007. The title song "추억은 사랑을 닮아" ("Memories Resemble Love") was a top 3 hit.

He participated in the OST of a Korean TV program called Iljimae by singing the song "Hwashin," which means "Flower Letter." During the fall of 2008, he has participated in Hwang Project as their lead vocal, releasing a single album "The Castle of Zoltar," which has a style apart from usual Park Hyo Shin music.

In December 2008, he appeared on Lee Hana's Peppermint, covering the song Look Only At Me by Big Bang's Taeyang, to promote the concert he was part of, The Soul Concert, with other R&B soul stars, Wheesung, Gummy and Jung Yup.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of his debut, Park held a series of concerts, titled Park Hyo Shin's Gift from 17 to 19 October 2009 at the Olympic Fencing Gymnasium.[1] On May 23, 2009. Park has participated on Green Concert, and is currently working on his 6th studio album. On September 15, 2009. Park released his 6th album, Gift-Part1. The Song "After Love" made it to the top 1 in music charts.

On August 23, 2010, the first part of the soundtrack to SBS's drama Athena was released. He sang the song "I Love You", which topped the charts once it was released.On September 13, 2010, Park released "Goodbye Love", his new digital single. On September 25, Park began his "Gift Part 2 Live Tour". On December 1, 2010, Park HyoShin's management agency, "Jelly Fish entertainment" announced that Park would be enlisting in the army on December 21.

Gift Part 2, Park's 2010 album, was released on December 13.

In December 2010, Park enlisted for mandatory military service for five weeks of basic training followed by 21 months of active duty with the Defense Media Agency of the Ministry of National Defense in Yongsan-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. He was discharged on 24 September 2012.[2]

On October 14, 2013 the soundtrack for Marry Him If You Dare was released. The song "It's You" was featured on part 4 of the soundtrack, for the KBS drama.
