The Palmerston Raiders are an Australian Semi-professional rugby league team based in Palmerston, Northern Territory. They compete in the Darwin Rugby League (DRL), Darwin's Local rugby league competition.
The Raiders are a foundation member of Darwin rugby league community with a 50 year relationship with the people of Darwin and Palmerston.
The Raiders began playing out of the Returned Services League Club in Darwin in 1961. Then in 1989 moved on to be known as the Top End Raiders and finally in 1995 to our current location and name of the Palmerston Raiders.
Playing field
The Palmerston Raiders 2011 DRL premiers are looking to try go back to back wins. with a great year in 2011 we will see if it can happen this year. The palmerston Radiers current have juniors and seniors, train Mondays thru to Thursdays every week at Archer Oval located off Elrundie Avenue in Palmerston. But in late marah early April the Palmerston Raiders will be moving to their new home ground. Like the rest of the clubs which play in the Darwin Rugby League the Palmerston Raiders play most of their games at Richardson Park located in the Darwin suburb of Ludmilla which is the main ground of the Darwin Rugby League.
NRL players
Currently to date the Palmerston raiders have produced one player in the National Rugby League, Australasia's premier rugby league competition, that player is James Mcmanus who currently plays for the Newcastle Knights.
