Paliganj is a town, a subdivision and an assembly constituency in Patna district in the Indian state of Bihar.

Geography

Paliganj is located at 25°20′00″N 84°50′00″E / 25.3333°N 84.8333°E / 25.3333; 84.8333.

Paliganj subdivision is composed of the following community development blocks:

  2. Bikram
  3. Dulhin Bajar.[1]

Education

Paras Nath Kushwaha College, Achhuwa: This is located on the Paliganj - Dulhin Bazaar Road. A Degree College under Magadh University provides higher education in this area. It was founded by Late Shri Kameshwar Prasad of Dharhara, Paliganj to promote higher education in this area.

Akbarpur Village has a primary & middle school and "Vasudeva Acharya Sanskrit College", which is under "Kameshwar Singh Darbhanga Sanskrit University",.

VNHS Chandhos also provides 10th level education. which is located in chandhos village. where Chandra Shekhar Kumar Mechanical Engg. student of NIT Jamshedpur studied and was topper in 2007 batch.

There is a Vaihsno Math in Akbarpur, under the guidance of Chakrapani Ji Mahanth and Pujari Sumiran Ji.

Akbarpur also has a Government Health Centre, operating under under Paliganj, Patnar Referral Hospital.

Politics

Presently Dr.Usha Vidyarthi is the MLA of Paliganj.Before her winning Nand Kumar Nanda of Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation (CPI(ML)(L)) had won the Paliganj seat (assembly constituency no. 195) defeating Dr. Usha Vidyarthi of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in October 2005, and Dinanath Singh Yadav of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) in February 2005. Dinanath Singh Yadav of RJD defeated Janardan Sharma of BJP in 2000. Chandradeo Prasad Verma of Janata Dal defeated Janardan Sharma of BJP in 1995. Ram Lakhan Singh Yadav representing Congress defeated Kripa Narayan Singh of IPF in 1990 and Kanhai Singh of BJP in 1985. Ram Lakhan Singh Yadav representing Congress (U) defeated Kanhai Singh of BJP in 1980. Kanhai Singh (Independent) defeated Akhileswar Singh of Congress in 1977.[2]

Paliganj assembly constituency is part of Pataliputra (Lok Sabha constituency).[3]

190 Paliganj assembly constituency covers Dulhin Bazar and Paliganj community development b;ocks.[4]

Currently the MLA of Paliganj is Usha Vidyarthi of Bhartiye Janta Party(BJP).
