The Painted Honeyeater (Grantiella picta) is a species of honeyeater in a monotypic genus.

Distribution and habitat

Its core range is inland south-eastern Australia where its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical dry forests.

Painted Honeyeaters are threatened by habitat loss.

Australia

Painted Honeyeaters are not listed as threatened on the Australian Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999.

Victoria

  • The Painted Honeyeater is listed as threatened on the Victorian Flora and Fauna Guarantee Act (1988).[3] Under this Act, an Action Statement for the recovery and future management of this species has been prepared.[4]
  • On the 2007 advisory list of threatened vertebrate fauna in Victoria, the Painted Honeyater is listed as vulnerable.[5]
