Paimio (Finnish pronunciation: [ˈpɑimio]; Swedish: Pemar) is a town and a municipality of Finland.
It is located in the province of Western Finland and is part of the Finland Proper region. The municipality has a population of 10,479 (31 January 2014)[2] and covers an area of 242.24 square kilometres (93.53 sq mi) of which 3.89 km2 (1.50 sq mi) is water.[1] The population density is 43.96 inhabitants per square kilometre (113.9 /sq mi). The municipality is unilingually Finnish.
Important buildings
Paimio is best known for the tuberculosis sanatorium, Paimio Sanatorium designed by the architect Alvar Aalto.
Trivia
Paimio centre is called Vista, divided by the church hill to Upper Vista (Ylä-Vista) and Lower Vista (Ala-Vista).
