Padmapur,Rayagada
Padmapur is the biggest village of Rayagada district. It is a prominent rice production centre of the district.A hillock adjoins the village to its southern side to enhance the scenic beauty of this place .The histrotical importance of this village can be connected to seventh century when the Buddhist logician -Philosopher Dharmakirti is believed to have spent his last days at the cave of the hillock .The buddhist scripture available on one of the rocks of the Nilakantheswar temple ,on the top of the hillock, proves this fact. Padmapur is the birth place of the great communist leader Comrade Nagabhushana Pattnaik.
