Pablo César Cano García (born October 4, 1989, in Tlalnepantla, México, Mexico), is a Mexican professional boxer and the interim WBA World Light Welterweight Champion. Cano is signed with Oscar De La Hoya's Boxing Company Golden Boy Promotions.[1] Pablo was formerly trained by the late Rudy Pérez, the same trainer of former World Champion Marco Antonio Barrera.[2]

Professional career

In June 2010, Pablo beat the veteran Óscar Leon to win the NABF Light Welterweight Championship.[3]

WBC Light Welterweight Championship

On September 17, 2011 Cano faced three-division titleholder Erik Morales for a vacant WBC Light Welterweight title, on the undercard of Victor Ortiz vs. Floyd Mayweather. Cano lost by TKO in the 10th round to Erik Morales.[4] He replaced hard-hitting Lucas Matthysse of Argentina, who withdrew with a viral infection that prevented him from training.[5]
