Oxhey Jets F.C. are a football club based in the Watford suburb of Oxhey, England. They are currently members of the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division. The club is affiliated to the Hertfordshire County Football Association.[1]

History

Oxhey Jets were established in 1972 as a boys team, eventually moving to the local Watford leagues when they became a men's team.[2][3][4] They joined the Herts County League Division One in 1981.[5] Three seasons after joining the Herts County League they were promoted to the Premier Division, however after two seasons in the top division were relegated back to Division One.[5] At the end of the 1988–89 season the club were once again promoted to the Premier Division.[5] The club would then go onto win the Premier Division in the 2000–01 season, they then repeated the title win for the next two seasons.[6] The 2003–04 season saw the club finish as runners-up and this with the previous three league wins earned them promotion to the Spartan South Midlands League.[4]

The 2004–05 season saw the club gain its second successive promotion when at the first attempt they were Spartan South Midlands League Division One Champions.[7] The club now in the Premier division saw them make their debut in the FA Cup for the 2005–06 season, losing to Lowestoft Town in the preliminary round.[5] On 29 February 2012, Oxhey Jets became only the second ever Spartan South Midland team to reach the final of the Herts Senior Cup, when they overcame Cheshunt 4–3 on penalties in the semi-final.[8] They then lost 7–2 in the final to Bishop's Stortford.[9]
