Owain Brown (born 30 July 1984) is a Welsh rugby league footballer who currently plays for the North Wales Crusaders.[1] His usual positions is a Prop Forward. He has represented Wales and Great Britain Students at Rugby League.

Playing career

Brown first played rugby league as a seven-year-old with hometown Wrexham Raiders before moving on to Widnes Tigers at 11.

He then spent four years in the Academy at Super League giants St. Helens, before moving to Australia for a brief career with Moss Vale Dragons in Wollongong.[2]

After moving back home to Wrexham he signed with Halton Simms Cross until 2010 when he signed with Leigh East.

On 3 August 2010 Brown was included in the 48-man training squad for their Alitalia European Cup games against Scotland, Ireland and France and their full international friendly and under 23 matches against Italy.[3] However Brown picked up a broken leg on his league debut for Leigh East against York Acorn which resulted in him having no involvement with the Wales training squad.

In the 2011 summer, Brown was selected for the touring Great Britain Students tour to Bali and Australia. Brown played in 4 out of 5 tour games and led the side as captain on 2 occasions in wins against an Indonesian Select side and the Australian Universities side in the 2nd test match. The touring side went on to make history by sealing a first test series win on Australian soil with 2 wins and a draw against the Australian Universities side.[4]
