Sellberg was born in Stockholm. He turned professional in 1982 and played on the European Tour through most of the 1980s and 1990s, twice finishing in the top twenty of the Order of Merit. He won three tournaments on the tour and represented his country in the World Cup and the Dunhill Cup several times.

When he defeated Howard Clark in the final of the Epson Grand Prix of Europe Match Play Championship in 1986, Sellberg became the first Swede to win a European Tour event. In 2000, he was one of the ten inaugural inductees to the Swedish Golfing Hall of Fame.[1]
