Outsourcery Plc, is a UK-based independent Cloud Service Provider (CSP) listed on the UK’s Alternative Investment Market (AIM:OUT).[1] The business was founded in 2007 by co-CEOs, Piers Linney and Simon Newton and has offices in Manchester, Leicester and London.[2] The company has a range of offerings for both SMEs and large enterprises including hosted software applications (software-as-a-service or SaaS), virtualised infrastructure (infrastructure-as-a-service or IaaS), unified communications (UC) solutions and other cloud-based services, offered primarily via a network of partners. These services are deployed on its proprietary O-Cloud platform, which is housed in a third-party, enterprise grade datacentre.[1]

Outsourcery positions itself as a cloud provider in the systemic market shift from an ‘on-premise’ or ‘managed service’ deployment model, to a cloud-based model.

Outsourcery’s Co-CEO, Piers Linney, has become better known since taking on the role of a ‘Dragon’ for Series 11 of the BBC Two television programme, Dragons’ Den.[3]

History

Outsourcery’s origins date from 1997 when the business initially provided mobile solutions to UK organisations. Piers Linney and Simon Newton acquired the business and assets of Genesis Communications – an established business-to-business mobile voice and data reseller. In the same year, Genesis acquired an early stage Microsoft application hosting company, Servelogic Limited, enabling it to enter the hosted services market. Between 2007 and 2010, the company saw revenue for cloud-based services grow from zero to over £4 million and the legacy business was subsequently sold through two transactions during 2011 for a total of £15 million.

Outsourcery’s partner network includes a number of enterprise businesses including Vodafone (including the former Cable & Wireless), Virgin Media Business, BT, Atos and HP. It provides cloud services to the end-customers of its partners and continues to develop partnerships with a number of smaller IT and communication companies.[1] Outsourcery’s board is led by Ken Olisa OBE (Non-Executive Chairman), and the company is also a founder member of the UK Cloud Industry Forum.

On 24 May 2013, Outsourcery was admitted to London's Alternative Investment Market (AIM).[4] The sale of the legacy mobile distribution business was completed on 3 September 2013.[5]

On 6 November 2013, Outsourcery announced that it had partnered with Dell to design and deploy a secure cloud-based system using Dell's IL3 platform. The announcement follows Outsourcery's recent agreement with Microsoft to lead its UK initiative to accelerate the offering of IL3-compliant cloud services for the UK public sector, in particular central government.[6] Outsourcery is also an HP Cloud Agile Select partner.[7]

Outsourcery launched its first generation cloud platform in 2008 and second generation platform during 2011 and 2012. The O-Cloud is a single, scalable platform which enables the delivery of converged IT and communications. Today, Outsourcery offers a range of cloud-based solutions for businesses, including:
