From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Orthodoxy in Greece may refer to:
- Church of Greece - the autocephalous church of Greece which is organised into 81 dioceses. However, 30 of these are nominally under the jurisdiction of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople (see below).
- Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople - the dioceses of Crete and the Dodecanese, and Mount Athos are under the direct jurisdiction of the Patriarchate of Constantinople. 30 dioceses in northern Greece and in the major islands in the north and northeast Aegean are nominally under the jurisdiction of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople, but are administered "in stewardship" as part of the Church of Greece
- Various Greek Old Calendarist jurisdictions (not in communion with the Eastern Orthodox Churches under the jurisdiction of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople )
