Oroxylum is a genus of plant belonging to the family Bignoniaceae. The name comes from the Greek oros (mountain) and xylon (wood). It has been published in Decas Generum Novorum, p8, in 1808. the vernacular Chinese name is 木蝴蝶属 (hanyu pinyin : mù húdié shǔ, class of butterfly tree)·
