The golf club describes itself as "the Course in the heart of the city" as it is just a mile from Belfast city centre. It was formed in 1893 and is one of the oldest golf clubs in Ireland. The clubhouse and course are situated on mature tree-covered parkland, which was once part of the Marquis of Donegall's Ormeau demesne.[1] The club has occupied the property by agreement with Belfast City Council since the early 1890s.[2]
