Online Trading Academy is an education company that provides education to professional traders regarding trading on financial markets. Initially, the company started as one of largest trading floors in the US.[citation needed] In order to improve trading results, managers and the top traders were offered daily review and coaching sessions to help the traders become more consistent and profitable. This training program grew, and soon other companies were sending traders in for training. In 2001, the company shifted to focusing solely on providing this trading strategy reviews, training and education to the general public. The company was founded by Eyal Shahar in 1997.[1][2]

With 36 campuses, Online Trading Academy has graduated over 26,000 students worldwide.[citation needed]

Background

Online Trading Academy teaches its students a rule-based strategy for trading in the financial markets. Classes usually tackle various topics ranging from day trading stocks to Forex, stock options, and futures trading. The students work with instructors to review market condition, breakdown complex charts, and learn specific trading techniques. A hands-on trading approach is used to reinforce the concepts taught in class.[citation needed] Additionally, Online Trading Academy reviews other brokers, products, and services, and continually provides this information to students and graduates.[2]

In addition to the classes offered, the company also offers separate self-study programs through online and on DVDs. The program aims to teach the same fundamentals and concepts as in the in-class training.[2]

The company has been rated with a letter grade of A- by Better Business Bureau (BBB). BBB has determined that Online Trading Academy has met the accreditation standards from BBB, which includes commitment to make a good faith effort to resolve any consumer issues.[3]

History

Online Trading Academy began as a trading floor in 1997. The traders on the floor received weekly training and progress reviews from managers, and in 2001 Founder Eyal Shahar recognized the need in the marketplace for training all types of traders. In 2001 the company fully transitioned to an education center.[1][2]

In July 2006, the company started to develop and deliver financial educational web content for TotalView, NASDAQ's premier market data product.[4][5] In the same year, the company started to offer in its Middle East and North Africa - Regional center in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates an online course in stock trading.[6] The regional center first opened in 2005, who owns by Al Khaleej Training and Education, a Saudi based group which also listed in Saudi Stocks.

In 2010, Online Trading Academy signed a pact with Sharekhan, one of India’s leading retail broking companies, to provide its trading and investing education to customers in India. With the pact, Online Trading Academy opened its 34th campus in Mumbai, India.[7]

Education

Online Trading Academy provides education to its students regarding trading on financial markets. Students are taught with core essential strategies when it comes to trading. Online Trading Academy reviews these strategies over three or seven day courses through the use of real trades to reinforce the concepts. Core strategy essentials is designed for students of all experience levels who are serious about applying professional level skills to enhance their own trading or investing performance.[9]

Students at Online Trading Academy have extensive sources ranging from exclusive student resources, free online courses, DVDs, exclusive strategies, videos, and others.[10][11] Also, there are over 70 instructors, including the award winning Sam Seiden who teaches Odds Enhancers in trading, that will guide the students during their stay in Online Trading Academy.[12][13]

Power Trading Radio

Power Trading Radio is a daily progressive trader focused radio and web program produced by Online Trading Academy and hosted by long time trader Merlin Rothfeld.[20] The program is designed for average investors and traders.[21] The show covers topics ranging from stocks, Forex, futures, options and others.[22][23] The radio show has a 4.5 star rating as a podcast on iTunes and has generally received positive reviews.[24]

OTA Tax Pros

OTA Tax Pros was launched in June 2011 by Online Trading Academy and Eyal Shahar in Irvine, CA. The mission of the company is to provide traders with the strategies and techniques to increase cash flow by reducing taxes on investments.[25]

OTA Tax Pros is a consulting and education firm that serves investors and traders in their tax needs. The organizations offer tax consulting and tax preparation for active traders and investors filing as individuals or as a business.[2]

OTA Tax Pros was founded when umbrella company Online Trading Academy recognized a need for tax education for investors.[25] Professional traders often have delicate tax needs that differ from employees in other industries. As a result, OTA Tax Pros was launched to provide consulting, workshops, and assistance to those in the industry.

Assistance with a tax specialist includes filing tax returns for individuals, partnerships, LLC, S-corporations, C-Corporations, gift tax, estate tax, and exempt organizations. The company also provides consultations, entity formation document assistance, retirement-plan assistance services, and IRS/state tax exam representation services.
