The Ohio Renaissance Festival is an annual event that takes place on weekends from late August through October. This Renaissance festival is held at a permanent site located near Harveysburg, Ohio The festival grounds are 30 acres (120,000 m2) in area, and include several outdoor stages, and a large number of Renaissance themed structures housing craft shops, games, and food.

The festival is set in the fictional 16th-century English village of "Willy Nilly on the Wash," during the reign of Elizabeth I who is also featured along with select historical members of her court by the festival cast re-enactors. The festival features costumed performers, craft shops selling and demonstrating period themed handcrafted goods and artwork, renaissance themed food, and regularly scheduled comedy, music, and acrobatic shows. Featured shows include a theatrical mud show as well as a full armored, full contact, joust currently performed by the Knights of Valor troupe presided by Shane Adams, also noted as the host of Full Metal Jousting -an American reality television jousting themed show .[1][2]

The performing cast including the Queen and her entourage along with representatives from each festival shop make a parade circuit through the fairgrounds once a day.
