Ogembo

''''Ogembo' is a town, capital of the Gucha District,Kisii County,Kenya.the main occupants are the abagusii tribe,a subtribe of the bantu community.


It is the district headquarters of Gucha district also previously known by the name South Kisii District. Its population is approximately 461,000 (as of 1999) [1]. It houses more than a thousand residents and is cosmopolitan,(people who live in the center of the town), with more than one thousand people more that visit it each day. Agriculture is the main industry. Apart from numerous small family plantations, there are large sugar cane fields towards its south. The population is mostly of the abagusii people.The district borders Maasai land at southeast.

The district had three constituencies at its inception: South Mugirango, Bomachoge and Bobasi as of 2002 before the independent bounderies commission recommended for further subdivision of the disctrict thereby creating more constituencies and disctricts.
