The Escuercito (Odontophrynus americanus) is a species of frog in the Leptodactylidae family. It is found in Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, and possibly Bolivia. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forests, subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, moist savanna, subtropical or tropical moist shrubland, subtropical or tropical high-altitude shrubland, subtropical or tropical dry lowland grassland, subtropical or tropical seasonally wet or flooded lowland grassland, intermittent rivers, intermittent freshwater lakes, intermittent freshwater marshes, pastureland, rural gardens, urban areas, and heavily degraded former forest.
