O'Brien is a census-designated place and unincorporated community in Josephine County, Oregon, United States. As of the 2000 census, O'Brien had a total population of 546.[1] The community was named after John O'Brien, who was one of the first settlers to arrive at the locality.[citation needed] In 2012, a small group started protecting the town when the police was cut due to budget cuts [2]
