Nunthorpe Academy is a Specialist Science, Business and Enterprise Academy in Nunthorpe, an area of south-east Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, England. The school caters for around 1,500 pupils from the ages of 11 to 18. In 2012 the academy gained record GCSE exam results of 95% 5+ A*-C.

History

In September 2008 the school opened a sixth form college, which is combined with Eston Park and Gilbrook's sixth form building, which was created from the same design.

The Principal is Debbie Clinton, and the Vice Principal is Dr Tim Hughes. The Heads of Sixth Form are Hermione Jackson and Neal Holder.

The former Nunthorpe School converted to Academy status on 1 October 2012.[1]

House system

Nunthorpe School has five houses:

  • Endeavour (green)
  • Invincible (red)
  • Triumph (blue)
  • Valiant (orange)
  • Victory (yellow)

Awards

The former Headteacher of Nunthorpe School, Sir John Rowling, received a Knighthood in 2003 for his services to education.
