Nuno Resende is a Portuguese singer, born June 25, 1973 in Porto, Portugal. He moved to Belgium with his parents in 1985. He studied physical education to become a teacher but decided to begin a musical career.

Career

He was a member of the group La Teuf[1] who finished sixth in the competition to represent Belgium at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2000.[2] He was more successful solo in 2005, representing Belgium in the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 Semi Final with the song Le grand soir (The Big Night). Nuno did not make it to the final because his song received 29 points, placing him 22nd from 25 participating countries.

Nuno played in a number of musicals including Belle et la Bête (1999), Roméo et Juliette, de la Haine à l'Amour (2000), Les Demoiselles de Rochefort (2003),[3] tackled the role of Aladdin at the Palais des congrès de Paris in December 2007 [4] and Grease's French version (2008).[5]

In 2009, he joined the musical Mozart, l'opéra rock. He played the role of Gottlieb Stéphanie and Joseph Lange and was backup for main character "Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart". He was given the opportunity to play Mozart for the first time on April 29, 2010 for the show premiere in Brussels (Belgium), and once again on may 13 in Lyon (France).

In 2012, Nuno was in the musical Adam et Ève : La Seconde Chance[6] by Pascal Obispo at the Palais des sports de Paris along with Thierry Amiel and Cylia, the major actors in the show. He played the role of Snake, leader of the people of "the other side" of the city of Eden. The musical's tour was cancelled in August 2012 because of the economic climate. In the end of the year, he became the new member of the musical Erzsebeth which inspired by Elizabeth Báthory's life, the famous Hungarian countess. Nuno played Thurzo, Elizabeth's lover. The musical took place in Belgium.[7]

Nuno participated in the 2013 edition of "The Voice" (France)[8] and was Florent Pagny's finalist for the show on may 18. He finished in third place[9] after second place finisher, Olympe, and winner, Yoann Fréget. The show was on tour in France and ended in Lebanon.[10]

During summer, he performed in many festivals including the Festival d'Avignon.[11] He released a DVD from his concerts called Interlude Musical.

From October to January 2014, Nuno played the role of Maître Grigri, the Jiminy Cricket of the musical Pinocchio in Paris.[12]
