NU'EST (New Established Style and Tempo) (Hangul: 뉴이스트) is a South Korean boy group formed by Pledis Entertainment in 2012, consisting of JR, Aron, Baekho, Minhyun and Ren.
Career
All members were backup dancers for AS Blue's "Wonder boy" music video, participating on stage with them. JR was featured in After School's Uee's solo song "Sok Sok Sok" and was later dubbed as "Bangkok Boy" after appearing in Orange Caramel's "Bangkok City" Music Video, while Minhyun starred in the music video of "Shanghai Romance". Baekho appeared in After School's follow-up single music video "Play Ur Love". NU'EST was also featured on "Love Letter", a holiday single with labelmates Son Dam Bi and After School. The artists later appeared on various stages to promote the single.[1]
Their debut song, "Face", composed by Daniel Bergman, was aimed to spread the awareness of bullying in schools..[2] NU'EST made their broadcast debut on Mnet's M! Countdown on March 15, 2012, with a double stage of "I'm Sorry" and "Face".[3] In 2012 they got their own reality show, "Making of a Star: NU'EST, Landing Operation".[4]
A mini album, Action, was released in July.[5] On August 24, NU'EST attended the 2012 K-Pop Contest in Sydney at UNSW (The University of New South Wales) Science Theatre.[6] That same year they played at KCON 2012.[citation needed]
On December 9, NU’EST held a sold out mini concert in Japan which sold out in 10 minutes.[7]
In November 2013, it was confirmed that the group would expand into China with the release of a Chinese Version of "Sleep Talking" with the addition of a 6th member, Jason, who will be present for their Chinese promotions.[8]
