Notophthalmus is a genus of newts known commonly as North American newts. There are three species.

- Black-spotted newt, Notophthalmus meridionalis (Cope, 1880)
- Striped newt, Notophthalmus perstriatus (Bishop, 1941)
- Eastern newt, Notophthalmus viridescens (Rafinesque, 1820)
