Norayr Musheghian (Armenian: Նորայր Մուշեղյան; November 2, 1935 - December 23, 2011[1]) was an Armenian wrestler, coach and public activist.

Biography

Norayr Tagvori Musheghian was born in Yerevan to Armenian parents, survivors of Armenian Genocide. He was the first Armenian Free-style Wrestling World Champion (1958) and World Cup winner,[2] Free-style Wrestling Champion of USSR (1958 and 1959), and USSR Second Spartakiad winner (1959), Deserved master of sports of the USSR (1966).

He was the founder of Free-style wrestling school of Yerevan and "Zoravar Andranik" All-Armenian Union (1986).[3][4]

He died, aged 76, in his home city of Yerevan.
