Nobel, Ltd. is a telecom company founded by Thomas Knobel, a young entrepreneur from Switzerland. Nobel's retailer websites offer prepaid phone cards that use the VoIP technology to route long distance calls. The purpose of routing calls is obtaining a lower cost for the user of the phone card.

History

In 1998, two years after having moved to United States in order to live the "American Dream", Thomas Knobel founded Nobel. offering a calling product that was designed to lower the costs of international calls. The calling method - popularly known under the term of "prepaid phone card" - is based on VoIP technologies and methodologies.

In 2004, Nobel was recognized by the Inc. 500 independent magazine and ranked number 79 on Inc. Magazine's 23rd annual list of fastest growing private companies in the United States.

In November 2006, Nobel was recommended as the best source for prepaid phone cards[1] by Kiplinger, the renowned national magazine dedicated to personal finance.

Today, Nobel offers a variety of telecommunication services, including the online selling of prepaid virtual phone cards worldwide, physical distribution of phone cards in the US, postpaid and superior carrier services through its PoPs in Toronto, London, Frankfurt, Hong Kong and Bucharest.

Nobel is headquartered in Hamilton (Bermuda), but the company also operates a number of local offices around the world, in Bucharest (Romania), Ontario (Canada) and others.

Business Divisions

  • NobelCom is a branch of the consumer division of Nobel. This unit sells virtual prepaid phone cards, postpaid long distance plans and callback services directly to consumers.
  • Enjoy Prepaid is the second consumer website launched by Nobel in 2003. It sells calling plans and comes as an alternative to NobelCom, for customers who need to call multiple long distance destinations.
  • NobelCom UK was launched in 2005 and sells prepaid phone cards that are mainly addressed to customers residing in the United Kingdom.
